Chadwick Lawrence involved in new Mediation Service
Chadwick Lawrence Family Department are delighted to announce our involvement in a brand new innovative Mediation Service which is designed to help separating couples resolve matters swiftly and amicably and in a very cost effective way.
Lawyer Supported Mediation launched in Leeds in April 2014 and forms part of a wider initiative to encourage couples to reach a settlement amicably in mediation. A fixed fee package is available and includes mediation and independent legal advice. Each couple can use the scheme to reach agreements about divorce, children, finances or any combination of these issues.
This truly is a cost effective service which we hope will encourage more couples to seek legal advice and enter into the mediation process rather than attempting to go it alone. A recent report from NAPO, the union representing Family Court staff, states that the Family Court where now ten times more likely to see both parents in a Children Act dispute without legal representation as opposed to them being represented by a solicitor. Our family team certainly hopes to encourage more people to try mediation to avoid the daunting prospect of entering Court Proceedings without representation.
Lawyer Supported Mediation is the brain child of trained mediator and former journalist Marc Lopatin. Like Marc, we believe that the transparency of the process is an appealing option to separating couples and that it provides an efficient and costs effective way to deal with difficult and emotional disputes.
