Chadwick Lawrence Hosts a Corporate Charity Iftar In Support of The Turkey and Syria Earthquake Emergency
Chadwick Lawrence recently held our first-ever Corporate Charity Iftar in support of raising much-needed funds for the Turkey and Syria Earthquake Disaster to promote diversity, inclusivity, and different faiths and cultures. The event was a huge success, bringing together over 430 businesses and individuals to support the victims of the Turkey Syria earthquake disaster.
Asma Iqbal, Partner at Chadwick Lawrence, highlighted the importance of the event, which marked the convergence of three Abrahamic religious events, namely Ramadan, Easter, and Passover. She emphasised the need for greater awareness and understanding of other faiths, cultures, and traditions to promote tolerance and acceptance in society. This is a message that is relevant not only to the legal profession but also to all businesses and individuals.
The event was graced by notable personalities and dignitaries such as Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire, and Mark Roberts, the Chair of the Leeds City Region LEP Board. Both speakers praised the West Yorkshire business community for their commitment to charity and community work, which is an essential part of Ramadan. They also commended the diversity and inclusivity of the West Yorkshire business community, which is a testament to the power of diversity in promoting positive change in society.
We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity both within the firm and in the wider community.
The proceeds from the event will go to The Penny Appeal‘s relief efforts for the Turkey and Syria earthquake, which has caused widespread destruction and suffering. The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.8, struck near the city of Gaziantep in Turkey and was followed by another two, one of magnitude 7.5 and the other of magnitude 6.0, causing widespread destruction and thousands of deaths. The affected regions have also experienced storms, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach survivors. The Penny Appeal is on the ground, working with partners to provide emergency medical aid and essentials to those affected by the calamity. The organization is calling on people to help support its efforts to help those in need during this tragic time.
