Chadwick Lawrence is Running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon
Chadwick Lawrence has three team members running the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon on Sunday 14 May 2023 in support of motor neurone disease.
This is the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon’s inaugural year. The event is to raise money for MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) to support those suffering from motor neurone disease, a devastating illness which sadly has affected many people in the UK, including Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow.
Sam Pawson (Partner and Head of Employment), Paul Marshall (Finance Manager) and Neil Wilson (Managing Partner) have been training long and hard to get ready for the event. Sam Pawson, whose first marathon this will be comments “ Like all the runners, I will be running on behalf of Rob Burrow raising money for the MNDA. As a lifelong Rhinos fan and someone fortunate to have met Rob on a few occasions, I am honoured to try and raise any money I can for a wonderful cause and an even better bloke.” Sam is also raising money for two other charities. Dementia UK, and Barts Charity, both of which hold a very special place in his, and many others, hearts.
The marathon will see over 10,000 participants take on a new route through Leeds and the surrounding countryside, starting and ending at Headingley Stadium, a tribute to Rob’s infamous sporting career with the Rhinos. The event will be held in support of the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal as well as the MND Association.
Paul Marshall comments “The training regime is difficult, physically and mentally but it is such an amazing sense of achievement knowing your body can achieve so much”.
Managing Partner Neil Wilson says “I have always found a lot of time and energy for sports through running, football and walking. In the last 20 years, I have run several marathons.” He continues “I signed up for the 2022 London Marathon in support of MNDA but I contracted COVID two days before the event so I had to pull out. Therefore this marathon means even more to me”.
