Chadwick Lawrence is the Title Sponsor Miles for Marcus: A Charity Walk In Support of Marcus Stewart’s Battle with Motor Neurone Disease
Chadwick Lawrence is proud to be the title sponsor of this year’s Walk for Pounds in association with Huddersfield Town FC. This year’s event, ‘Miles for Marcus’ is taking place on Saturday 30 September. This is to raise funds for the Darby Rimmer Foundation in aid of Huddersfield Town Club Legend Marcus Stewart who has sadly been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in 2022.
There will be two routes available for those who are partaking in the event: an 18-mile and a 4-mile option. The 18-mile walk will take place around Huddersfield, visiting iconic landmarks such as Castle Hill, weaving through the surrounding woodlands areas, before looping back to the playfield of Marcus’ two sons, Lockwood Park. The 4-mile walk has been introduced as an accessible option starting and finishing at the John Smiths Stadium. And both routes end in a victory lap of John Smith’s Stadium.
Marcus and his family have been campaigning and fundraising heavily over the last year in a fight to battle his diagnosis, making him an inspiration to many, including the whole team at Chadwick Lawrence.
Peter Harling says “Marcus Stewart was one of the finest players to have played for Huddersfield Town in my lifetime, and I was really sad to hear of the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.”
“The MND community and the awareness that people like the late great Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow, Kevin Sinfield, Marcus, and the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation have created for the same is extraordinary. Health and wellness are at the core of everything we do at Chadwick Lawrence so we were extremely proud, honoured and only too pleased to be asked to support such a worthwhile cause and help play our part in creating further awareness to find a cure for MND.
“I would encourage as many of you as possible to dust down your walking boots and support Marcus and the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation by walking Miles for Marcus.”
