Chadwick Lawrence Offers Outstanding Opportunity To Aspiring Professionals
Chadwick Lawrence is widely recognised as being proud of its Yorkshire Heritage and this May, Yorkshire’s Legal People clearly seem to be going the extra mile in demonstrating its community spirit by giving more back to the locals of the area.
After initially being approached by Heckmondwike Grammar School to ask if a few students interested in law could take a look around the company, Chadwick Lawrence set up a seminar to show interested potential candidates what happens behind closed doors. They also spoke with interested individuals about the traineeship that they offer to a couple of students per year, which involves a structured training programme for those who wish to pursue a career in law.
The trainee scheme offers an opportunity for young people to become an apprentice with Yorkshire’s Legal People, kick starting a career in law for those whose preference isn’t to go to University, or for those who want to avoid the spiralling price tag of higher education only to enter the job market in an uncertain economy.
Chadwick Lawrence offers a competitive salary for the two final candidates selected in August from an initial six who succeed the interview process held during the Easter Break. The candidates will ultimately become CILEX/FILEX qualified Legal Executives with an impressive résumé through the process of on the job learning combined with part time studies at Park Lane College with the Institute of Legal Executives.
The attractive alternate route into the legal profession clearly sparked an interest in students at Heckmondwike Grammar, of which twenty one pupils and three tutors attended the seminar held by the law firm.
A variety of presentations were made on the day by different employees at the firm, including Asma Iqbal, Partner and specialist in Dispute Resolution at Chadwick Lawrence, giving an overview of the firm, its services, department and structure. Olivia Robinson (Solicitor) then followed with an insight into the different career opportunities available in law alongside a question and answer session regarding her and Asma’s training and career path to date. Josh Smith (Paralegal) and Georgina Freeman (Trainee Legal Executive) then gave an insight to the firm’s Trainee Paralegal Scheme, and finally Lisa Bailey discussed the use of Social Media and how it fits into the recruitment process at Chadwick Lawrence.
Yorkshire’s Legal People recognised that the event was a success, and Heckmondwike Grammar were delighted by the company’s efforts to offer the opportunity to learn about the firm and what it has to offer to the youth of today.
