Chadwick Lawrence to Host Annual Charity Iftar in Support of The Citizens Foundation
We are delighted to be hosting our third annual Charity Iftar event, which will bring together local businesses and individuals to promote diversity, inclusivity and different faiths and religions.
This year’s event, which will be held on Thursday 20 March at The Madisson Bradford, will raise vital funds for The Citizens Foundation (TCF), a UK based charity that supports the education of underprivileged children living in Pakistan’s urban and rural slums.
We are honoured to have a range of influential regional figures attending the event, with distinguished speakers including Bishop of Bradford Toby Howarth, Iman Fazal Dad, Principal & CEO at Blackburn College, MP Naz Shah, and BBC Journalist Sabbiyah Pervez.
What is the Charity Iftar?
The Charity Iftar is a multi-faith event which focuses on both the business and the faith community to raise awareness of Ramadan and its practices, as well as raising funds for worthy causes. It is open to anyone within the local community who would like to attend.
This is Chadwick Lawrence’s third annual Charity Iftar, but our first time supporting TCF. 100% of the funds raised will go towards allowing students in Pakistan to gain access to resources and equipment to benefit their learning and help them to succeed.
Previous Chadwick Lawrence Iftar’s have raised invaluable funds to support refugees, such as those from the Turkey and Syria Earthquake in 2023.
How will the funds benefit The Citizens Foundation?
Pakistan has the largest number of out-of-school children in the world, with the majority of these being girls. The partnership with one of Pakistan’s leading educational charities, which has supported over 280,000 students since it was first established in 1995, will provide life changing education for purpose built primary and secondary schools in both urban and rural areas of Pakistan.
Our Partner Asma Iqbal visited a purpose-built school in Karachi in December 2023, where she was able to witness first-hand what a difference TCF schools were making in providing well-equipped facilities to enable under-privileged children to learn effectively and reach their full potential.
Chadwick Lawrence has therefore chosen to collaborate with the charity for our 2025 Charity Iftar. The funds raised will help with providing digital facilities in the schools we are supporting, empowering girls with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.
Asma Iqbal commented: “It is humbling to be able to support girls in education who would otherwise be denied this basic human right in society to which they are entitled. I met some amazing talented young women during my visit to one of TCF’s schools in rural Karachi, many aspiring to be lawyers and doctors, and to think that Chadwick Lawrence has played a small part in making that a reality for these girls is truly rewarding.”
Over the years, The Citizens Foundation has helped thousands of students and teachers in Pakistan and has arguably become one of the largest private employers for women in the country.
