Employee Spotlight – Alexandra Hunter
Each colleague at Chadwick Lawrence is a valuable member of the team, and we want to showcase each individual behind the Chadwick Lawrence wheel.
In this Q&A, we’re finding out more about Alexandra Hunter, a Solicitor in the Wills & Probate team. Getting to know her journey into a legal profession and what she enjoys most about her role at Chadwick Lawrence…
Have you always wanted to work in a legal profession – what was your journey to Chadwick Lawrence?
As a child I always wanted to be a doctor or a nurse, following my parents into the medical profession but being squeamish this was never going to be possible. A week’s work experience working with my mum, a solicitor in the probate department changed this and led me to a career in the legal profession.
After graduating with a degree in History, my journey started as a receptionist for Whitaker Firth (which merged with Chadwick Lawrence in 2019). During this time I undertook the Post Graduate Diploma in Law and the Legal Practice Course. After qualification I joined my mum as a partner in Whitaker Firth and now my journey continues with Chadwick Lawrence as an Associate Solicitor in the private client department. I am also a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Which one word do you think your colleagues would use to describe you?
Caring
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
“Failing to plan is planning to fail” quote from Benjamin Franklin
What do you enjoy most about your job role?
Being able to help clients during difficult times in their lives and taking the burden of dealing with the estate of a loved one off their shoulders. I am often told when taking over the papers what a relief it is not to have to deal with the administration of the estate.
What was the last thing you accomplished at work that you were most proud of?
I would probably say administering an estate with around 200 properties among the assets. This was certainly a challenge but one which was very rewarding.
