Real Estate Assistant Hamzah Nadir Moves to IT Team Seeking a New Challenge
Real Estate Assistant, Hamzah Nadir, has decided to retrain within Chadwick Lawrence as a Junior IT System Developer through an apprenticeship scheme. Hamzah’s previous role at Chadwick Lawrence involved working on the legal side of property transactions, including preparing contracts, communicating with clients, and dealing with solicitors. He also carried out administrative tasks such as scanning, printing, and faxing. While he enjoyed the varied nature of the job, he realised that he wanted to pursue his passion for IT.
Hamzah had always been interested in IT, having studied it at GCSE and college. He continued to self-learn IT courses at home, which further fuelled his interest. He felt like he wanted to make a career change, and when an opportunity arose, he mentioned it to Partner, Dan Hirst, who then relayed the information to the Head of IT, Dan Bell. Hamzah had an informal interview with Dan Bell to gauge his interest, leading to a positive outcome. Chadwick Lawrence have partnered with the technology training provider QA, to deliver the apprenticeship.
Why did Hamzah choose an apprenticeship? Although he didn’t have any practical experience in IT, IT requires both classroom and practical experience. The apprenticeship would give him the opportunity to gain both while working at Chadwick Lawrence.
Hamzah’s current role requires him to work on developing current systems at Chadwick Lawrence and the application around that. His previous role has given him skills such as communication, teamwork, organisational skills, critical thinking, and analytical thinking, which are all transferable skills that he can apply to his new role.
Hamzah’s overall aim is to become a fully qualified software developer, and his apprenticeship is a step in that direction. He is excited about the opportunity to learn and work in a field that he is passionate about.
For anyone looking to change careers, Hamzah has some advice. Always ask, because if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Make connections with people within and outside your company, as these connections can help you find new opportunities.
