Supported by Chadwick Lawrence, the Ultimate Frisbee GB U20 team was Named ‘Spirit of the Game’ Champions at the World Championships
Supported and sponsored by Chadwick Lawrence, the Team GB Under 20s Ultimate Frisbee Team of 23 young athletes, featuring 11 rising stars from Yorkshire, has been named “Spirit of the Game Champions” at the Ultimate Frisbee World Championship.
The team faced opponents from over 20 countries in Birmingham during the tournament. Over a thousand contestants across forty teams competed in the Women’s, Open, and Mixed divisions over seven days of competition at BCU’s sports headquarters
The GB U20s Open team were commended by the Flying Disk Federation for reaching the quarter-finals and were awarded the Spirit of the Game award by competitors, in recognition of their integrity in the self-officiated sport!
Chadwick Lawrence was introduced to this team through Partner Jonathan Moore, who also serves as the team’s coach in his free time. Ultimate Frisbee demands endurance, strength, teamwork, and dedication—values that align closely with our firm’s values. We are delighted to support a team that embodies these qualities.
Chadwick Lawrence is a key sponsor for the Women’s and Mixed U20s squad, and the firm’s investment directly translates into vital resources for the team, including new training kits, recovery equipment like massage guns to prevent injuries, and access to the expertise of a professional nutritionist. This has helped level the playing field against better-funded international competitors, ensuring the GB team arrived at the WJUC primed for success.
“This support from Chadwick Lawrence is a game-changer for us, and contributes to the overall attitude of the team. I couldn’t be more proud of the team and their commendation from the world-class competitors in the form of the Spirit of the Game award,” said Matt Carson. “The support from a sponsor such as Chadwick Lawrence has allowed us to focus on our training and preparation, knowing that we had the backing we needed to compete at our best.”
Emily Ashkam, 16, who has been playing for three years for the women’s team, said: “Chadwick Lawrence’s involvement definitely had an impact on our team and our general mentality going into the championships. Their support even helped the coaches to bring in a sports psychologist to enhance our mental preparation. It was things like this that made us feel like we were playing at a high professional level.”
The sponsorship reflects Chadwick Lawrence’s broader commitment to sports and its core values of respect, integrity, and teamwork. The firm’s support for a diverse range of Yorkshire teams, including Leeds Rhinos, Huddersfield Town, Barnsley FC, and Bradford Bulls, demonstrates a dedication to athletic excellence at all levels.
“By investing in local sporting talent, businesses like ours can make a real difference in their communities,” said Moore. “It’s an investment that benefits everyone involved – the athletes, the community, and the businesses themselves.”
The Ultimate Frisbee World Championship 2024 took place at Birmingham City University (BCU) July (21- 27).
