Abigail joined the firm in October 2021 as a paralegal and went on to complete her training contract with the firm.

Adele first joined Chadwick Lawrence in 1991 as a Litigation secretary based at their Dewsbury office and has since worked across various departments at almost every branch of the firm.
After taking a 7-year break to be a full-time mum, she returned to the Morley office in 2000 and qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer. Today, Adele is based at the Wakefield office, where she provides secretarial and administrative support to the Employment and Regulatory teams.
Adele enjoys visiting her daughter in London, as well as gardening, knitting, and reading. She is also a big fan of the Royal family!

Amanda-Jayne graduated from Huddersfield University in 2007 with a BA in Law and started her first legal job that year with Easthams Solicitors in Blackpool. She started in conveyancing but after the 2008 housing market downfall, moved departments and joined the personal injury team. Since then, Amanda-Jayne has spent all her time doing personal injury claims of all varieties, litigation and more recently housing disrepair claims.
Amanda-Jayne qualified as a Fellow of CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) in December in 2012.
She joined Chadwick Lawrence to go back into property and take on new challenges.

During this time Andrew has built an extensive knowledge of civil litigation and dispute resolution, focusing primarily on residential and commercial property disputes, as well as commercial contract disputes.

Ashley has responsibility for sending out the initial paperwork to the client for signature and explaining the basis of the Conditional Fee Agreement once they have had the opportunity of reading the paperwork.

After assisting the team and providing support in their Corporate and Commercial matters, Christian has progressed and taken on the role of Paralegal in February 2024 and is now a Trainee Solicitor.
Outside of the office, Christian loves rock-climbing and participating in regional competitions, playing and keeping up with chess in his spare time, and regularly follows the NBA.

Ellie was delighted to join the firm in May 2019 as a Paralegal; having already gained prior experience working in Private Client. Ellie started her Training Contract with the firm in April 2020 and qualified as a Solicitor in October 2021. From January 2021, Ellie is assisting in the Family Department to broaden her experience in other aspects of legal practice.
Ellie first discovered her keen interest in Private Client law whilst studying at the University of Huddersfield, where she gained a first-class honours degree and was awarded with an accolade for achieving the highest marks in Land Law.
Ellie’s time at the University of Huddersfield was followed by achieving a distinction on the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, where she also achieved a distinction in her master’s degree whilst working at a local law firm full time.

Emily qualified as a Legal Executive in 2001, becoming a Fellow in 2005. As such, she has a wide range of expertise in all areas of family law but has a particular focus on divorce and financial matters, cohabitee disputes and pre and post-nuptial agreements. Emily undertakes a varied caseload, representing clients in mid to high net worth cases, as well as those where the assets are more limited.
Emily also has a busy practice in private law children work representing parents in proceedings ranging from contact disputes to more difficult and complex cases where allegations of sexual, emotional and physical abuse have been made.
Emily recognises that clients are often at their most vulnerable when seeking her advice following the breakdown of a relationship and is sensitive to their needs but she also has a practical and down to earth approach and believes in providing pragmatic and realistic advice from the outset. Particularly where children are involved, Emily recognises the need to take a more conciliatory approach but can be a tenacious advocate when needed.

Heather has also assisted on fatal accident claims including work on inquests following fatal accidents.

Lewis completed a master’s degree in legal Practice from Manchester Metropolitan University and is now learning more about the conveyancing process.
He has over 8 years’ experience dealing with insurance claims which have included disputed motor claims where neither side wishes to admit liability where he always strove to obtain the best settlement for his clients. He has always settled claims quickly where his clients were at fault and recovered costs from the other side where his clients were not at fault.
Building claims has involved reviewing policies to see if a client will be covered for what they wish to claim for and either declining a claim or providing a like for like replacement / repair for them.
Outside work, Lewis is working towards achieving a black belt in Shotokan Karate for fitness and self-discipline.

Outside of his role in law, Matt sits on a Governing committee for a local Primary School where he is the designated SEND Governor for the School, championing the issue of special educational needs and disability within the work of the Governing board as well as overseeing the school’s arrangements and provisions for meeting special educational needs.

Shortly after his 18th birthday, he started as a Legal Apprentice at a national law firm in Leeds. He soon became a fee earner at 20 years old and for the next 8 years he handled a caseload on a range of disputes on behalf of insurer and corporate clients. Alongside fee earning, he completed a 6-year Solicitor Apprenticeship which provided him with excellent academics to become a successful litigator.
Oliver has now come back to Chadwick Lawrence, with a wealth of experience to put to good use, in our Litigation team based in Leeds. He qualified as a solicitor in June 2024.

Sunnia is an Employment Solicitor and has an extensive legal background, dealing with an array of legal matters, and has chosen to specialise in Employment Law. She works on both contentious and non-contentious work.
Prior to joining Chadwick Lawrence in April 2023, Sunnia worked in top-tier law firms in Manchester where she completed her degree and master’s in law. She trained and qualified at a thriving high street firm in her hometown of Ipswich, before permanently moving to Yorkshire with her family.
In her free time, Sunnia enjoys cooking and trying out new recipes. She enjoys going out for dinner and looks forward to her annual holidays with her family.

Susan has been with Chadwick Lawrence since 1994, passing the Ilex Certificate in Elderly Client Law and Practice in 2008 with a distinction and is a Fellow of the Institute of Paralegals.
Susan was part of our private client team from 1994 until she joined our Court of Protection team where she specialises in Court of Protection applications and the registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney across all of our offices. Over the 30 years Susan has been a part of the firm she has helped thousands of clients achieve peace of mind that their wishes will be carried out.
As well working with clients, Susan is a dedicated Dementia Friends Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society and is the chairperson of the Chadwick Lawrence Dementia Committee, maintaining our firm’s commitment to raise awareness and support those living with dementia, their families and carers.
Susan Vesely

Susan Vesely completed an LLB Hons at Leeds University, qualifying in 1980 and has specialised in family law since 1989. She has a thorough knowledge of family law and a wealth of experience dealing with all aspects of divorce, separation, private law, children disputes in relation to residence, contact, prohibited steps orders and specific issue orders.
Susan is a specialist in financial matters for medium to high net worth clients, often with a business and pensions. Although the majority of Susan’s cases are in the family courts across England and Wales, she has advised clients living in jurisdictions in the UAE and US, much of Susan’s work comes through personal recommendation from previous clients and contacts.
Susan is a Specialist of Resolution and an Accredited Specialist on the Law Society Advanced Family Panel.
Susan was qualified as a Mediator in 1999 and also trained to deal with direct consultation with children. She also managed a successful family mediation service and is a past President of a local Law Society.
Suzanne Powell

Suzanne is based in Halifax, assisting Angela Thorp in the Probate Department with applications for Grants of Probate and administration of Estates, drafting Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, all administrative typing, and assisting other fee earners where necessary.
Suzanne also assists Angela Thorp in the Family Department with all aspects of family work, including administrative typing, and assisting other fee earners where necessary.
She has 39 years’ experience working in the legal sector with 19 of those years being at Chadwick Lawrence.

Thomas is a New Business Assistant, based at the Wakefield Office where he is responsible for onboarding and opening new matters for clients. He recently graduated from the University of Lincoln with a 1st class in LLB Law (Hons) and is a current part-time postgraduate student at Leeds Beckett University, undertaking a masters in Professional Legal Practice (LPC).

Trent has previous experience working within both the construction and recruitment industry.

Vicky joined Chadwick Lawrence in 2017 having previously worked at another local law firm assisting in commercial and residential property transactions and Wills, LPA and probate matters.
She now has over 23 years of experience as a legal secretary and assists the fees earners at the Wakefield and Horbury offices of Chadwick Lawrence with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and probate matters.
In her spare time Vicky enjoys spending time with my husband and daughter, long walks in the Yorkshire Dales and has recently taken up running and completed the Wakefield 10K.

Will graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2017 with a degree in music technology, and enjoys playing in bands in his spare time.

Zoe Allen joined Chadwick Lawrence in 2016 and is currently completing training to become a Chartered Legal Executive, following the CILEX training route to qualification whilst assisting the team with a varied case load. Zoe assists in providing advice on all aspects of Corporate Recovery, Insolvency and Insolvency Litigation. She also assists with all aspects of debt recovery, contractual disputes and Construction Litigation matters.
Zoe is personable and friendly, and manages Chadwick Lawrence’s work experience / student engagement programs including providing legal training to students. Zoe frequently hosts a law clinic at the University of Huddersfield which provides clients with on-the-spot legal advice whilst providing law students with an invaluable insight into the legal profession.
